From the sanctuary, head down and back towards the Cavern entrance. After that, head back down all the way to your Sanctuary. This made it possible to come up with an extremely interesting price – 294,000 euros (net) for the KTM X-BOW GT2 and 230,000 euros (net) for the KTM X-BOW GTX. KTM board member Hubert Trunkenpolz: “We took a close look at the competitive environment, and thanks to our experience in designing lightweight vehicles, we were able to make several cost optimizations. Pre-sales are to begin immediately, and the prices are now established. The models are now being introduced onto the market and will be available direct from the KTM Sportcar GmbH or their nominated partners. The racing car, developed together with Reiter Engineering, is being manufactured in the GT2 version, and also a basic KTM X-BOW GTX model for a wide range of GT racing series, (both long-distance and sprint racing).
11/3/2023 0 Comments Phenomena movie coverThere is the one thing that this documentary can say that it does: removes doubt. Writing for Movie Geeks, Marc Butterfield said "If you aren’t disturbed after you watch this documentary, you weren’t paying attention." Butterfield concludes that "while we now know that they (whoever 'they' are) are out there, we still have no idea what they want, where they're from, what they are doing. But this is a subject that demands, and within government is now getting, serious attention." It's also true that we know far less about what's going on with the rare UFOs than what we do know. It's also absolutely true that most UFOs can be explained by weather conditions or misidentified observations of conventional aircraft. either come from military backgrounds, have held high security clearance positions in government, or the defense sector." Rogan concludes that "there is no question that there are charlatans in this field. He reported that the "documentary is bold but necessarily grounded. Tom Rogan, the national security writer and online editor of the Washington Examiner said that the primary focus of the film is the broad, post-World War II history of this subject. It is narrated by veteran PBS narrator Peter Coyote. The film was released on 6 October 2020, and was promoted as being "the most credible and revealing film ever made about the long-standing global cover-up and mystery involving unidentified aerial phenomenon." It is James Fox's third film on the subject of UFOs, the first two being I Know What I Saw (2009) and Out of the Blue (2003). In the film, Reid is asked about other evidence and replies "I'm saying most of it hasn't seen the light of day." Release It also features interviews with former US Senate majority leader Harry Reid, Clinton White House chief of staff John Podesta, former deputy undersecretary for Defense Intelligence Christopher Mellon, former New Mexico governor Bill Richardson, and journalist Leslie Kean. Jesse Marcel of the Roswell incident ufologist Jacques Vallee, whose research uncovered the " Pentacle Memorandum" witnesses to the Ariel School, the Westall UFO, the Lonnie Zamora, and the Rendlesham Forest incidents and military personnel and other individuals connected with the Pentagon UFO videos. The film includes footage or archival interviews with Kenneth Arnold, who coined the phrase "flying saucer" after his 1947 sighting Maj. The Phenomenon covers the (then) recently released Pentagon UFO videos, but its primary focus is the history of UFO sightings in the time since World War II, and it makes a case for greater scientific study of "the UFO phenomenon". The Phenomenon is a 2020 documentary film written and produced by ufologist James Fox. 11/3/2023 0 Comments Dwarf fortress trading with liasonIf you are unsure about which goods are in which containers, clicking the bin or barrel within the menu will show every item that is stored inside, along with its perceived value (using your broker's Appraisal skill). Mark the goods you want to sell -insert clever advice-, and your dwarves will begin moving them to the depot. Next click "Move goods to/from depot" to be presented with a list of all items in your fortress that belong to you. Be aware that without an assigned broker, it's likely a random, probably unskilled dwarf will volunteer to conduct the trade. Select the trade depot and then click either "Broker requested at depot" or "Anyone requested at depot" if you have no broker noble assigned. Turn trader's and leader's labors back onīefore you can begin trading, you need to designate what goods to trade and have the fortress's representative trader located at the trade depot. A civil war in your home civilization will also stop trade with them. Newly-founded fortresses begin the game at peace with their home civilization and will generally have at least that one trading partner each year, unless the parent civilization is dead or dying, or simply can't reach your site due to intervening mountains or open water. Appointing a citizen as a broker is not strictly necessary but is very helpful. To trade at all, you will need a trade depot and peaceful relations with at least one civilization that can reach your site. As a profession, the term applies to visiting merchants and dwarves whose highest skill is Appraiser. Trader is the generic term used at your trade depot to refer to your fortress representative (usually your broker, although it can be anyone else in a pinch) when dealing with merchants in a visiting caravan. Trading generally begins in the first autumn after establishing your fortress, with the arrival of the dwarven caravan from your home civilization. Trade can make up for the lack of industries you neglected or don't find interesting, provide resources that aren't available where your dwarves settled, replace key tools you lost or accidentally destroyed, and allow you more freedom in selecting starting gear and skills at embark. They can barter their excess goods for items they need, possibly even items they can't otherwise acquire for themselves. If nothing else, he'll leave when the next dwarven caravan comes in.Trading in Dwarf Fortress allows your dwarves to trade with friendly civilizations. So, liaisons can hang around for a while and socialize, and they can leave. The Titan didn't last long, though, and only managed to sever an arm before being overwhelmed. I'd guess 100 "goblins", about the same number of beak dogs, and 40 or so trolls). I let the Titan out when the next gobbo siege came (and WHAT at siege, I counted 110 units before the trolls started pouring in. The Titan then went back to the dog and managed to do the destruction act, chased the dog into my secondary entrance tunnel and was caught there (it killed the dog, of course). The Titan woke up and chased him, but thanks to his thick skull, the caravan made it off the map without anyone getting hurt or even upset. He left when the caravan left (the Titan still trying to figure out how to get in.), went straight east, and then decided to leave the map mid south. Luckily, the Titan was busy trying to destroy the door+floor grate of my watchdog's pen, so they all made it in. The second caravan was blocked by a siege, and the third one arrived shortly AFTER a Titan arrived. My first trade liaison hang around my tavern, became king (the old one croaked, apparently), and left when the elves came. 11/3/2023 0 Comments Discovery park seattle photosWe explored Wolf Tree Nature trail before heading home. It was high tide so there was less beach to explore. We sat on a large driftwood log, legs warmed by the sun, looked out at the gentle waves and ate the sandwiches I’d packed. I highly recommend having lunch at the beach. We saw a trio of mallards swimming in one pond, and found another pond covered by a blanket of teeny tiny green plants. I found some cute little mushrooms nestled comfortably at the base of a large mossy tree. There were plenty of yellow wildflowers framing a western view of the Sound outside of the Daybreak Star Cultural Center. Vast ocean views, mossy trees & everything in between This is definitely a park to explore if you live in the area or if you’re visiting. I really still can’t get over that so much beauty is only a few short miles’ stroll from my front door. Well, after breakfast and caffeine of course. As soon as the first perfect day of the season shined through our windows – and on a Saturday, too! – I packed some sandwiches, filled our canteens with water and we were off. Nick and I have driven there a few times but we’d been meaning to test out a full round trip walking. There’s a lighthouse, too!īest part of Discovery Park is that it’s only a 3.5 mile walk from our front door. (These neighborhoods are all part of Seattle.) It’s 534 lovely green and sandy acres of park with nearly 12 miles of walking tails. Let’s dive into Discovery Park! What to see in Discovery Park this Springĭiscovery Park overlooks the Puget Sound from Magnolia, a neighborhood north of Queen Anne and south of our hood in Ballard. I’ll post my Lime Kiln report at a later date. Photos of sunny ocean views from our adventures in Discovery Park and jungle-like greenery from Lime Kiln Trail in the Northern Cascades. While we recover, I’ve kept myself busy going through and editing our recent photos. It’s May, the weather is finally looking up and we are back on the trail! This past weekend, Nick and I had a 2-day hiking marathon… and now our legs are very sore. One of the best things about living in Seattle is our proximity to many miles of trails and acres of parks. 11/3/2023 0 Comments Older firefox versionsIf you’re running 64-bit Windows ( here’s how to check), your Firefox may already be 64-bit. Linux and macOS users, fret not, you already enjoy a Firefox that’s optimized for 64-bit. Also, with the jump from 32 to 64 bits, a security feature called Address Space Layout Randomization (ASLR) works better to protect you from attackers. Here’s the key thing to know: 64-bit applications can access more memory and are less likely to crash than 32-bit applications. What’s the difference between 32-bit and 64-bit? How much less? In our tests so far, 64-bit Firefox reduced crashes by 39% on machines with 4GB of RAM or more. That means you get a more secure version of Firefox, one that also crashes a whole lot less. It does not store any personal data.Users on 64-bit Windows who download Firefox can get our 64-bit version by default. You should always use the latest available release version of the Mozilla Firefox web browser which can be downloaded from. Using an older version of Firefox or any other web browser is not recommended as it could pose as a big security risk. If you want to downgrade to a very old version of Firefox just for experimental reasons, then you have to manually export and import the various bookmarks and other saved data. You can also use this command through the Windows Terminal, PowerShell or cmd.exe. If the command does not work because it cannot find firefox, then you will have to add this parameter (–allow-downgrade) to the Firefox shortcut on your desktop. Now you can close the browser window and start using it like before using its various shortcuts – no special command is needed anymore. Firefox will launch, load your existing profiles and work as usual. In it, give the command firefox –allow-downgrade. For example, if you have Firefox 104 installed, downgrade only down to version 102. My suggestion is not to downgrade more than 2 major versions. If you use a very very old version, then it won’t work at all.
11/3/2023 0 Comments Portland vs nuggets scoreThis guy is EVERYTHING to the Blazers right now. It is unbelievable how Kanter is playing, how hard he's battling on defense, how soft his touch is around the rim, how relentlessly he hits the boards, how fluid he is as a roll man. He is so good it's hard to put into words, but he ain't exactly in the best shape, and we'll have to see how he bounces back on the short turnaround for Game 4.Īs for his counterpart, Kanter - seriously, who's giving this guy a max deal this summer? I joke. He posted 33 points, 18 rebounds and 14 assists. Battle of the bigsĪs mentioned above, Jokic played a mind-boggling 65 minutes. That is so big-time there's just nothing else to say. RODNEY HOOD! □ #RipCity 138 #MileHighBasketball 137ĥ.6 left in 4OT on POR ball. Look at this man going to work:įAKE, FIRE, FOR THE LEAD. McCollum scored 41 points - 28 of which came from the fourth quarter through the final overtime. This guy, like Lillard, has been killing defenders for years and just doesn't get the love he deserves. There is nobody in the league as smooth with the ball in terms of creating space and razzle-dazzling defenders to death than McCollum, and his clutch shot-making is second to none. This guy is a gunslinger is the best way.Īs for McCollum, I'm here to tell you: This dude is Kyrie Irving without the hype. Murray finished with 34 points, nine rebounds and five assists, but what was so impressive about his night was that he went cold for a long stretch, probably should've been looking to pass a bit more, and then boom - when it was all on the line at the end of regulation, he steps up and without an ounce of hesitation and hits three monster shots that easily could've won the game for Denver. That would be McCollum and Murray, who were both nothing short of sensational. You legitimately might never see a game with that amount of shot-making again. We're talking step-backs, runners, teardrops, finishes through contact, 30-foot 3s, pull-ups - everything in the book, and under the most intense playoff pressure on every single possession. Portland is more accustomed to having to hit tough shots - Lillard and McCollum make their living doing it - but even by their standards these shots were wild. McCollum, Murray, Lillard, Will Barton, everyone was trading blows on complete jelly legs. On both sides, the shot-making down the stretch of this game and through the overtimes was astonishing. Had this game been in the Denver altitude, there might've been bodies on the floor. Game 4 is less than 48 hours away, and it feels like a must-win for the Nuggets, who are on the heels of a seven-game series in the first round. Nine of the 10 starters played 45-plus minutes. CJ McCollum played 60, Damian Lillard 58, Enes Kanter 56 with a partially separated shoulder, Jamal Murray 55, Gary Harris 50. Below are five takeaways from one of the wildest games you'll ever see. But Hood came in ice-cold off the bench to hit the eventual game-winning 3-pointer with less than 20 seconds to play, and now we have to wonder if Game 4 isn't a must-win game for Denver. And of all the stars in this series, the hero was? The four overtimes are tied for the longest game in NBA playoff history - the first since 1953. In a game you had to see to believe, the Portland Trail Blazers somehow, someway outlasted the Denver Nuggets in four overtimes on Friday, escaping with a 140-137 Game 3 victory to take a 2-1 series lead. 11/2/2023 0 Comments John william composerKings Row, ironically, is a hard-edged drama about dark secrets in a small town. Whether you'd go so far as to call this a "cinematic swipe," it's no shocker that Williams looked to channel Korngold, whose music for classic films like The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938) and The Sea Hawk (1940) is clearly the immediate template from which Williams was working with Star Wars and his other best-known film scores. As many listeners have noted, the main Star Wars theme (technically, Luke Skywalker's theme) bears more than a passing resemblance to Korngold's theme for Kings Row (1942). Of all Williams's borrowings, there's none more notorious than his nod to Erich Korngold-right out of the gate, no less. The Planets has been mined for any number of sci-fi spectaculars, and Mars in particular has been a favorite of film composers including Williams, whose stormtroopers march to a distinctly Martian beat. Other than the composers shot into orbit by Stanley Kubrick in 2001 (Ligeti, Khachaturian, both of the Strausses)-and the composers literally shot into orbit on Voyager II (Bach, Mozart, Beethoven)-there's no composer in the classical repertoire who's more closely associated with outer space than Gustav Holst. Whether or not Williams was explicitly thinking about a dying swan as he penned this elegiac music, he was certainly going for that feeling that a curtain (of stars?) is about to fall. The grandly Romantic theme from Swan Lake is also echoed in Williams's love theme for Han and Leia, from The Empire Strikes Back. Tchaikovsky was a master of orchestral color, and when you listen to his score for the "coffee" interlude next to Williams's Jawa theme, you're reminded that Clara's magical sojourn was the original trip to a galaxy far, far away. You don't necessarily think Nutcracker Suite when you think Star Wars-but it's more appropriate than you might realize that The Force Awakens was released during the Christmas season. Where the ordinary filmgoer most conspicuously hears Wagner in Star Wars, is in the brass-laden theme for Darth Vader and his evil Empire-which is distinctively reminiscent of Wagner's music for his majestic Valkyries. The idea Williams is best-known for copping from Wagner-via many other opera and film composers-is the device of the leitmotif: a distinctive musical "voice" for each major character, a melody and arrangement that can be adapted in various ways to complement the evolving story. Daringly dissonant and boldly dramatic for its time, Wagner's four-opera cycle was the original "cinematic" composition, its lurid Romantic vocabulary providing the basic toolbox for a century's worth of film composers. The ultimate influence on Williams's vision for Star Wars was Richard Wagner, whose Ring cycle combines a wealth of musical ideas that would inform Williams's work. His triumph, with Star Wars, was to deploy that musical vocabulary with an unprecedented power and sweep-a sweep that grew with each of the film's two sequels, and then with the three prequels Lucas directed 20 years later. In fact, it was precisely in the nature of his assignment that he produce a score harking back to the swashbuckling classics Lucas grew up with. It wasn't Williams's job, then, to break new aesthetic ground. Juilliard-trained, he'd worked with such legends as Bernard Herrmann and won two Academy Awards-including one for his still-iconic score for Steven Spielberg's Jaws, the movie that's credited for establishing the summer blockbuster genre. In his mid-40s, Williams was already an experienced film composer. Part and parcel of Lucas's approach was to commission a grand symphonic score, rather than an experimental electronic soundtrack. One of the reasons Star Wars made such an impact was that in a decade marked by stark, intellectually ambitious science fiction films-including George Lucas's own THX-1138 (1971)- Star Wars was a shamelessly sweeping throwback to space operas in the Buck Rogers mode. In this exploration of the musical world of Star Wars, we're tracing Williams' classical influences. The familiarity and resonance of the score has grown with each new installment of the series, and Williams has continued to develop new themes for the expanding cast of characters having adventures a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away. While movie music buffs can debate whether John Williams' Star Wars score is truly the greatest film score of all time, the composer has certainly created the most recognizable musical universe ever to accompany a motion picture. |
